UP Sets December 2025 Ganga Expressway Deadline, Tightens Defence Corridor Land Rules

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered weekly progress reviews and strict quality enforcement to finish the 594 km Ganga Expressway by December 2025.
  • Land allotted in the Defence Industrial Corridor will be automatically cancelled if unused after three years, with a transparent system to monitor utilization and tie concessions to milestones.
  • Officials reported investment proposals of about Rs 30,819 crore for the corridor and acquisition of 5,039 acres, with several companies already operating.
  • Skill development centres were mandated at corridor nodes in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot to train local youth for defence manufacturing roles.
  • BIDA reported board approval of its Master Plan 2045, 22,028 of 56,662 acres acquired, EIA work underway, plus directives for an airport, a railway station, a multimodal logistics park, a link expressway to the Bundelkhand Expressway, and proposed extensions coordinated with the NHAI network.
