UP Police Suspends Officers, Orders Facility Upgrades at Gorakhpur Training Camp

The DGP has ordered upgrades to power, water, sanitation and privacy arrangements at all RTCs after an inquiry dismissed camera allegations.

Overview

  • PAC Inspector General Preetinder Singh reported that a technical fault caused brief power and water disruptions and found no evidence of hidden cameras in bathing areas.
  • Commandant Anand Kumar and Physical Training Inspector Sanjay Rai were suspended for using inappropriate language, and DIG Rohan P Kanay was removed over a directive for pregnancy tests.
  • Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna instructed all 112 recruit training centres to guarantee reliable electricity, sufficient drinking water, sanitary toilets and privacy protections.
  • At the Gorakhpur centre, officials have begun adding extra toilets, installing water storage tanks and deploying high-capacity generators to alleviate overcrowding.
  • Nearly 600 women constable recruits have returned to training under assurances of upgraded amenities and clear medical examination policies.
