Overview

• The Saharanpur Dehat Kotwali police registered the case after local youth Maan Singh accused SP functionary Farhad Alam Gada of running an unauthorised PDA Pathshala teaching party slogans in place of standard curricula.
• Gada was booked under BNS section 353(2) for promoting enmity and under the SC/ST Act following a viral video of uniformed private school children reciting ‘A for Akhilesh, D for Dimple’ and other politicised alphabets.
• Police investigators found the children in the video were from a private school and not affected by any government school closures, undermining Gada’s claim that he was filling an educational void.
• This FIR marks the third action in a week against SP cadres for unauthorised PDA Pathshalas in Pratapgarh, Kanpur and Bhadohi, with charges ranging from trespass to misuse of school premises.
• The PDA Pathshala campaign was launched to protest the merger of over 10,000 under-enrolled primary schools, a move SP says disenfranchises backward, Dalit and minority communities ahead of next year’s elections.
