• Mohammad Azeem, a 22-year-old from Meerut, alleged he was deceived into marrying his fiancée’s 45-year-old mother, disguised as the bride, during a March 31 wedding ceremony.
• The wedding was organized by Azeem’s brother Nadeem and sister-in-law Shaida, with Rs 5 lakh exchanged as part of the arrangement.
• Azeem discovered the deception when the Maulvi referred to the bride as Tahira, and lifting the veil revealed the woman to be his fiancée’s mother.
• When Azeem protested, he claimed his relatives threatened him with false rape allegations, leading him to file a police complaint on April 17.
• By April 19, a private settlement was reached, and Azeem formally withdrew his complaint, deciding not to pursue legal action.
