UP Launches Artificial Insemination Training Institute, New Livestock Projects and FMD Vaccination Drive

The initiatives aim to fortify cattle health through breed improvement to secure farmers’ incomes across the state.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Artificial Insemination Training Institute in Gorakhpur and unveiled three Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund projects in Amethi, Bareilly and Mathura.
  • The state renewed its Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination programme under the Union Ministry’s direction to achieve saturation coverage among livestock.
  • Government schemes now house nearly 12 lakh cattle in cow shelters, support over 1.25 lakh farmers with up to four animals and stipends, and provide lactating cows to more than 10,000 malnourished families.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding with the National Dairy Development Board places three dairies in Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Kannauj and a fodder production centre in Ambedkar Nagar under NDDB management.
  • Uttar Pradesh has launched breed conservation campaigns and cow-based natural farming initiatives across 27 districts to reduce chemical inputs and boost rural livelihoods.
