UP Expands Paddy Purchase Network to 5,000 Centres With On-Time Payments Assured

Yogi Adityanath directed tighter oversight to speed procurement and keep fortified rice supplies steady for nutrition schemes.

Overview

  • Operational procurement centres will be raised from 4,227 to 5,000 to bring purchase points closer to villages and towns.
  • By November 30, officials reported 9.02 lakh metric tonnes procured from 1,51,030 farmers, with over Rs 1,984 crore transferred directly to accounts.
  • The MSP is set at Rs 2,369 per quintal for common paddy and Rs 2,389 for Grade-A, an increase of Rs 69 from last season.
  • Administrators were told to add manpower, streamline paddy lifting and mill mapping, prevent crowding, and ensure no farmer is turned away.
  • Supply of fortified rice to school and Anganwadi meals must remain uninterrupted, with more FRK vendors and 2,130 MT cleared in tests, and departments must prevent fertiliser and seed shortages.
