UP Cabinet Dissolves JPNIC Society, Transfers Centre to LDA

  • The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the dissolution of the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre managing society and handed the stalled project to the Lucknow Development Authority.
  • State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced that ₹821.74 crore spent so far will be reclassified as a 30-year loan to the LDA.
  • The LDA is authorised to solicit private operators through a request for proposal process for the centre’s completion and long-term management.
  • A high-level committee of senior officials will be formed to inspect existing structures, assess pending work and finalize cost and timeline estimates.
  • The 20-acre JPNIC project envisions a state-level auditorium, convention centre, modern sports complex, multipurpose courts and a 750-vehicle parking facility.
