- The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has asked schools to help students in Classes 9–12 create APAAR IDs and to record those 12‑digit IDs during advance registration for Classes 9 and 11 and exam form filing for Classes 10 and 12.
- APAAR is a permanent 12‑digit digital identity designed to centralize a student’s marksheets, transfer certificates and other academic records and to link those documents to DigiLocker for long‑term access.
- The board stressed that creating an APAAR ID requires parental consent and is not mandatory for registration or exams, but principals have been instructed to assist parents and aim to have students’ IDs entered before the registration deadlines.
- Separately, the UP Board has tightened checks on date‑of‑birth correction applications and listed acceptable substitutes when a birth certificate is unavailable, including hospital or ANM records, Anganwadi records, village birth/death registers, or a parents’ affidavit.
- Officials say the move seeks to reduce lost or inconsistent paper records, make scholarship and welfare eligibility easier to verify, and improve the accuracy of student data as schools complete current registration and exam processes.
