Overview

• The two-year-old boy, unvaccinated, succumbed at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center after contracting measles and developing secondary streptococcal pneumonia while on ECMO.
• A separate infant of about one year remains in very serious condition on ECMO in the pediatric intensive care unit.
• Ministry of Health data show 503 confirmed measles cases with roughly 187 still active, predominantly in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh ultra-Orthodox communities.
