Overview

  • On June 18, Amtsgericht Haßfurt found the 64-year-old defendant guilty in four counts of using symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations on X and imposed a fine of 55 daily rates of €15.
  • Prosecutors presented posts featuring Nazi-referencing imagery, including Adolf Hitler shaking hands with a cleric and men performing the Hitler salute alongside political commentary.
  • The proceedings began in August 2024 after a BKA portal report of a satirical X post mocking Economics Minister Robert Habeck led to a search that seized a tablet holding additional flagged content.
  • Prosecutors provisionally discontinued the defamation proceedings related to the “Schwachkopf Professional” Habeck insult, deeming the insult charge secondary to the symbol offenses.
  • The defense’s appeal sends the case to Landgericht Bamberg for review of the June 18 conviction and sentence.
