Overview
- The University of North Texas announced a $20 million gift from alumni Anuradha and Vikas Sinha to establish the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics and to endow six permanent funds for leadership, scholarships, professorships, entrepreneurship, research, and emerging technologies.
- The new college will be split into two academic divisions—Applied Intelligence and Informatics plus Information and Learning Applications—and will house the Applied Artificial Intelligence & Data Science Institute to connect research and teaching across UNT.
- Donors Anuradha and Vikas Sinha framed the gift as a ‘pay it forward’ investment shaped by their immigrant student experience and said the college will train students to build, question, govern, and apply AI responsibly.
- The gift builds on earlier Sinha support at UNT, including a 2024 Department of Data Science gift and the 2025 Sinha Innovation Lab for Data Science, and leverages Vikas Sinha’s recent UNT PhD and role as a Broadcom vice president.
- UNT says the college advances its Look North: UNT 2030 strategy by strengthening interdisciplinary research, recruiting faculty, deepening industry partnerships, expanding student scholarships, and positioning the university to compete for external research funding; a campus celebration is planned later this year.
