Overview
- Organizers canceled all races on Friday after wind dropped or became too erratic to run fair starts, leaving every scoreboard at zero.
- On Saturday, race committees found enough breeze around midday for five classes to complete one race and establish provisional leaders: Gaifar IV, Silleiro, Boeiro Uno, Salseiro C and Salpoente.
- Three ORC groups—Vithas ORC 1-2, Aceites Abril ORC 3 and Delta Cafés ORC 4—were unable to race on Saturday and must sail on Sunday for their results and for the trophies to be valid.
- The event’s shore program went ahead as planned with the Monte Real Village and the Premios Nacionales de Vela Terras Gauda gala drawing participants and fireworks despite the on-water disruption.
- The 41st Trofeo Príncipe de Asturias fields about 500 sailors across roughly 87 boats in ORC, J80 and Fígaro classes, and the compressed schedule raises the chance that Sunday’s wind conditions will decide final standings and prompt tight scheduling by race committees.
