Overview

  • The 2.5-minute color footage, shot on 16 mm by an anonymous fan, has been deposited in the Filmoteca de Catalunya and will air on 3Cat on July 3.
  • Magí Crusells of the Universitat de Barcelona authenticated the material as the most comprehensive visual record of the July 3, 1965 performance at Plaza de Toros de La Monumental.
  • Analysis of the newly public footage confirms five songs from the setlist, including “Twist and Shout,” “She’s a Woman,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Baby’s in Black” and “Long Tall Sally.”
  • Collector Miguel J. Navarro’s latest book, 'Cuando los Beatles visitaron Barcelona,' features around 120 previously unpublished photographs chronicling the band’s 18-hour stay.
  • These releases illuminate a landmark event that came to symbolize youth freedom and modernity under Francoist Spain and underscore ongoing cultural preservation efforts.
