Unlicensed brothers arrested after child's death in Kaushambi surgery

Overview

  • On March 16, a six-year-old boy died during an operation to remove an iron rod at Anmol Hospital and his father, Ram Asre, filed an FIR alleging negligent treatment.
  • Police arrested Vikas Kumar (26) and Vishesh Kumar (25) on May 25 after they admitted to posing as doctors and conducting the procedure.
  • Both brothers held only school-level education and performed surgeries without any licensed medical professional present.
  • The hospital had been sealed by health authorities in July 2024 but resumed operations registered under their brother Sanjay Kumar, who has no medical background.
  • Authorities charged the duo under Section 105 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and continue to investigate the case.
