Overview
- The Frente Sindical de las Universidades Nacionales confirmed a national strike for Tuesday, Sept. 8, after unions described the Sept. 1 paritaria as a failure.
- Unions rejected the government's earlier offers—a 3 percent monthly proposal and a later 6 percent package for September and October—and set Sept. 17 to resume talks with education authorities.
- The federations published a staged plan of protest that includes a national day of classroom demonstrations on Sept. 15, an act at the Education Ministry on Sept. 17, and a Fifth Marcha Federal Universitaria in early October.
- Local unions are moving in step with the national calendar: La Plata held a 24-hour strike on Sept. 2 and ADULP will meet to define Sept. 7–11 actions, while Rosario's Coad will push for a national ballot that may include an indefinite strike option.
- Unions say the core demand is implementation of the Ley de Financiamiento Universitario after more than 300 days of claimed noncompliance and they estimate a 31.2 percent increase is needed to restore lost purchasing power, a gap that could further disrupt teaching, student support and university services if unresolved.
