University of Tokyo Details Admissions for New College of Design Launching in 2027

  • UTokyo has published the detailed admissions framework for its College of Design, marking its first new faculty since 1958.
  • The five-year program will admit 100 students in September 2027, evenly split between domestic-focused A and international-focused B schemes.
  • A scheme candidates must provide Common Test scores, high school transcripts, essays, designated English test results and participate in an English-language interview.
  • B scheme applicants will apply via university-specified overseas exams and undergo a similar document review and interview process.
  • Application guidelines are set for release in August 2026, with the application period in fall 2026 and results due between February and March 2027.
