University of Minnesota Duluth Football Player Reed Ryan Dies

Ryan's Unexpected Death Due to Genetic Heart Condition Sparks Tributes and Fuels Research

University of Minnesota Duluth senior defensive lineman Reed Ryan died at the age of 22 due to an undetected genetic heart condition.
Ryan collapsed during a workout on November 21 and went into cardiac arrest. He was treated in the ICU but passed away a week later.
Ryan was a transfer student from North Dakota State University and had made significant contributions to the team in his short time there.
The University of Minnesota Duluth and other sports teams plan to honor Ryan with moments of silence, ribbons, decals, and other tributes.
Ryan's family has donated several of his organs and he will be part of an NCAA research study designed to prevent similar tragedies.
