Two University of Buffalo football players were accused of beating a mini poodle named Kobe with a leather belt.
The incident was captured on video and posted on social media.
The poodle suffered bruises and abrasions and was removed from the home for treatment.
The players were immediately suspended from the team and later permanently dismissed.
The players were charged with animal abuse and face up to a year in jail if convicted.
