University of Bristol Secures UGC Approval for Mumbai Enterprise Campus

Approved under NEP 2020 regulations, the campus will deepen UK-India academic links through specialised tech and business courses.

Overview

  • On July 29, Acting UGC Chairman Vineet Joshi presented Professor Evelyn Welch with a Letter of Intent authorising Bristol’s first overseas campus in Mumbai.
  • Set to open in summer 2026, the Mumbai Enterprise Campus marks the university’s first international location under India’s National Education Policy framework.
  • Initial programmes will cover data science, economics, finance, immersive arts and financial technology, with plans to add computer science, AI, business and management.
  • The campus will offer scholarships through Bristol’s Think Big programme and establish industry partnerships to integrate students into Mumbai’s innovation ecosystem.
  • Designed to mirror Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, the Mumbai site underlines India’s drive to internationalise higher education and retain talent domestically.
