Universal Secures First Look at 10 Atari Classics for Feature Films

The pact starts with Universal buying the first project from an original spec by Matt Reilly and Carl Hampe produced by Guymon Casady.

Overview

  • Atari partnered with Entertainment 360 to grant Universal Pictures a first-look right covering ten classic Atari properties, a deal reported July 23, 2026 that also resulted in Universal purchasing the first film project.
  • The ten properties named for priority development are Asteroids, Adventure, Berzerk, Breakout, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Millipede, Missile Command, Pong and Yars’ Revenge.
  • The initial feature springs from an original spec screenplay by Matt Reilly and Carl Hampe, with Entertainment 360 producer Guymon Casady attached and Reilly and Hampe also credited as producers.
  • The arrangement is a first-look pact rather than an outright sale and Atari is represented in the transaction by IAG and Vanderkloot Law while Universal declined to comment.
  • Atari and the creative team say the films will aim for large-scale action-adventure storytelling that leverages five decades of nostalgia, but no production schedule, release dates or casting have been announced yet.
