United Shifts Guam Fleet to 737 MAX 8 Starting 2026 as Hub Upgrades Move Forward

The refresh underscores a long-term commitment to Guam as a Pacific gateway.

Overview

  • United will move 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8s to Guam to replace its 737-800s, with the first aircraft scheduled to arrive in February 2026.
  • The Guam-based MAX 8s will seat up to 166 passengers, including up to 16 United First seats, with seatback screens, Bluetooth audio and USB power at every seat.
  • Wi‑Fi is currently available for purchase, with Starlink slated to roll out across United’s fleet in the next few years and to be free for MileagePlus members.
  • At Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, next‑generation kiosks are live and a reconfigured lobby is targeted for mid‑October completion after more than 48,000 customers saw check‑in times drop by up to 18 seconds.
  • From Dec. 1, 2025 to Mar. 27, 2026, select SaipanGuam flights will depart earlier to allow same‑day connections to Honolulu, supporting a hub that links 15 destinations including the Island Hopper and key Japan routes.
