- Manchester United will play Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday with a 17:30 BST kick-off and live coverage on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
- Carrick confirmed wing-back Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring problem and looks set to miss a number of weeks, while other United players such as Benjamin Sesko, Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt remain unavailable.
- Summer signing Carlos Baleba has trained through the break and is widely reported to be pushing for a first appearance, either from the start or off the bench.
- Tottenham arrive with a long casualty list that includes Dejan Kulusevski, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Pedro Porro, with James Maddison also a doubt.
- Most outlets predict Michael Carrick will use a 4-2-3-1 and publish a similar probable United XI, and commentators note the result could heighten pressure on both managers while bookmakers promote special offers such as Paddy Power’s 50-1 goal boost.
