United Cup 2024: Djokovic, Swiatek Open in Perth; U.S. Begins Title Defense

The mixed team tournament, running Dec 29 - Jan 7, is a key lead-up to the Australian Open, with group stage matches set in both Perth and Sydney; top winners from each city will advance to the quarter-finals, with semi-finals and final to be hosted in Sydney.

Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek will commence their 2024 campaigns in Perth, Australia, representing Serbia and Poland respectively in the mixed teams United Cup.
The defending champions, the United States team led by Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula, will also play in Perth, competing against Australia and Britain.
In Sydney, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari are set to represent Greece and face a Canada team including Felix Auger-Aliassime and Leylah Fernandez. Also, in Sydney, Angelique Kerber will return from maternity leave, representing Germany alongside Alexander Zverev against France and Italy.
The tournament will consist of six groups each containing three teams. Each team, made up of three men and three women, will undergo a round-robin format, competing in singles and doubles matches. The top team from each group, along with the best two runners-up, will proceed to the quarterfinals.
The United Cup tournament is a pivotal preparatory event for the Australian Open, boasting a prize pool of US$15 million as well as ATP and WTA rankings points. The semi-finals and final will be hosted in Sydney early January, before the Australian Open commences on Jan 14.
