United Airlines Worker Critically Injured in Collision with American Eagle Plane at O’Hare

A tug vehicle flipped and pinned its driver after being struck by a landing plane, leaving the 64-year-old in critical but stable condition.

  • The wing of the Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft struck a United Airlines tug vehicle attempting to cross the taxiway, flipping the vehicle and trapping its 64-year-old driver underneath.
  • The driver was rushed to Lutheran General Hospital with head and lower body injuries, where he was stabilized but remains in critical condition.
  • No passengers or crew aboard the plane were injured, and they were safely deplaned and transported to the terminal by bus.
