Unite Suspends Leonardo UK Strikes After New Pay Offer

Members will vote on a revised pay proposal following last-minute talks.

Overview

  • Industrial action due to begin on November 5 has been paused to allow a ballot of Unite members.
  • If members reject the offer, walkouts are scheduled for November 12–13 in Yeovil, Luton and Basildon, and November 10–18 in Edinburgh and Newcastle.
  • Unite had prepared more than 3,000 workers across sites in Scotland and England for a series of strikes over pay.
  • Unite national officer Rhys McCarthy said the threat of action prompted Leonardo to return with a new and improved offer.
  • Leonardo UK is a defence and aerospace manufacturer, with its Edinburgh site producing advanced radars for military aircraft.
