Overview

  • Phase-2 comprises two elevated corridors—Vanaz to Chandani Chowk (Corridor 2A) and Ramwadi to Wagholi/Vitthalwadi (Corridor 2B)—covering 12.75 km with 13 new stations.
  • The ₹3,626.24 crore cost will be equally shared by the Government of India, the Maharashtra government and external bilateral or multilateral agencies.
  • Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited will oversee implementation, with topographical surveys and detailed design consultancy already under way.
  • New links will integrate at the District Court Interchange Station with Line 1 and the planned Line 3, while intercity bus services will connect at Chandani Chowk and Wagholi.
  • Projected daily ridership on Line 2 is set to climb from about 96,000 in 2027 to 349,000 by 2057, easing congestion and promoting sustainable transit.
