Overview

  • The approved project will connect Mawlyngkhung in Meghalaya to Panchgram in Assam, covering 144.8 km in Meghalaya and 22 km in Assam along NH-06.
  • Financed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, the project includes Rs 12,087 crore for civil construction and Rs 3,503 crore for land acquisition.
  • The corridor is projected to significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity to Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and the Barak Valley region of Assam.
  • Expected to generate 74 lakh direct and 93 lakh indirect man-days of employment, the highway will support industrial growth in Meghalaya's cement and coal zones.
  • Once operational by FY 2025, the corridor will handle up to 20,000 passenger car units daily and promote tourism through links to key airports in Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar.
