Overview

  • The expressway will connect Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) at Pagote to Chowk in Maharashtra, spanning 30 km with six lanes and two tunnels through the Sahyadri Hills.
  • Developed under the Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model, the project will cost ₹4,500 crore and is aligned with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan for integrated multimodal connectivity.
  • The highway will link JNPA Port to key routes, including the Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH-48), Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and Mumbai-Goa National Highway (NH-66).
  • Designed to address heavy congestion, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time from JNPA Port to major highways, which currently takes 2-3 hours.
  • The project supports increasing container volumes at JNPA Port and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, set to open later in 2025.
