Unidentified Drones Shut Copenhagen and Oslo Airports Overnight

Officials have not attributed the drones to any actor.

Overview

  • Denmark closed Copenhagen’s Kastrup airport from about 20:30 to around 01:00 local time after police reported three to four large drones operating inside and around the perimeter.
  • Norway briefly halted traffic at Oslo’s main airport around 00:30 following a drone sighting, leading to incoming flights being diverted.
  • Eurocontrol issued a notice suspending arrivals and departures at Copenhagen until roughly 01:00 local time, and both airports have since reopened to residual delays.
  • Disruption was extensive, with about 50 departures canceled and dozens of flights diverted, including reroutes to Swedish airports such as Malmö and Gothenburg.
  • Investigations are ongoing with no confirmed origin; Danish police said they cannot confirm or exclude a Russian link, and unverified Norwegian media reports of arrests near a military area have not been tied to the airport incidents.
