Overview

• An additional 1.8 million people displaced inside Syria have gone back to their areas of origin, according to UNHCR.
• More than seven million remain displaced within Syria, and over 4.5 million Syrian refugees are still abroad.
• UNHCR reports that destroyed housing, damaged services, scarce jobs and volatile security are straining reintegration for returnees.
• Funding shortfalls are acute, with only 24 percent of inside‑Syria needs covered and 30 percent of the wider regional response financed.
