Overview

• The expedition was flagged off on August 27, 2025, from Theog, Shimla, by SDM Shashank Gupta and DSP Sidharth Sharma.
• The teams will travel through October 9 in four groups, living with local communities and conducting participatory field research.
• Twelve practices slated for documentation include Himachali Dham, Chamba thaal, Kangra miniature painting, Kath-Kuni architecture, Spiti jewellery, the Himachali topi, and Kullu Dussehra.
• National Geographic is producing a four-part series that will stream on JioHotstar to share the expedition’s findings.
• This edition builds on 2022 and 2024 journeys that recorded more than 70 traditions, advancing a UNESCO–Royal Enfield program targeting 200 ICH practices across the Himalayas.
