Overview
- The conversion project launched on October 26, 2026 and is listed on Kickstarter and Hackster with a roughly $500 pledge tier and a March 2027 shipping estimate.
- The kit supplies mounting plates, drive sleds, custom adapter boards and wiring but does not include a motherboard, CPU, GPU, memory, storage or power supply.
- Designed to be reversible, the adapter reuses the Mac Pro 7,1’s three front fans, power button, indicator light and two top USB‑C ports while fitting ATX motherboards and standard ATX power supplies.
- Installation requires removing Apple’s original internals and is intended for experienced builders because of size and cooling limits for GPUs and coolers and custom wiring needs.
- The campaign has attracted only token pledges so far—reported between $7 and $21—against a funding goal of about $10,700, which raises delivery, cost and demand risks for the niche group of 2019 Mac Pro owners.
