Under-Trial Prisoner Escapes Custody in Andhra Pradesh as Police Suspend Two Officers

  • Battula Prabhakar, also known as Rahul Reddy or Bittu, fled custody near Duddukuru in Devarapalli mandal while being taken back to Rajamahendravaram Central Prison from a court appearance in Vijayawada.

  • Two Armed Reserve head constables, K. J. Shadrak and K. Sugunakar Rao, were suspended on negligence charges following the incident.
  • Three special teams are searching under the supervision of AR Additional DCP K. Koteswara Rao, according to Police Commissioner S. V. Rajashekara Babu.
  • Alerts were issued across Eluru, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts, with a ₹50,000 reward and tip lines for the Devarapalli CI (9440796584) and SI (9440796624).
