Under-Construction Building Collapses at Kannauj Railway Station, Injuring 23
Rescue operations continue after a roof collapse at the site of a railway station redevelopment project in Uttar Pradesh, with multiple workers still feared trapped.
- The collapse occurred during the construction of a new terminal under the Amrit Bharat Yojana redevelopment project at Kannauj Railway Station.
- At least 35 workers were on-site when the roof shuttering gave way, with 23 rescued so far, including three seriously injured workers who were transferred to Lucknow for treatment.
- Rescue operations are ongoing with the assistance of SDRF, NDRF, drones, and sniffer dogs; heavy equipment has been deployed to clear debris.
- The Uttar Pradesh government and North Eastern Railway have announced investigations into the incident, with financial compensation for the injured ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2.5 lakh.
