UNAM’s CCH Sur Launches Mandatory Digital IDs as Photo Sessions Begin Nov. 5–12

The rollout follows security agreements reached after the killing of student Jesús Israel.

Overview

  • CCH Sur activated a cohort-based photo schedule running from November 5 to 12, with specific dates assigned by generation in the official notice.
  • Students must book appointments at http://escolares.cch-sur.unam.mx/tomaFotografía/, bring a printed confirmation, and present an accepted ID such as a UNAM credential, passport, INE, or a class schedule where applicable.
  • On the appointment day, entry is through the student stop on Calle Llanura with mandatory backpack inspections and designated booking windows of 07:00–15:00 for the morning shift and 13:00–21:00 for the evening shift.
  • More than 11,300 students are required to obtain the digital credential, which will be the sole means of campus access verified by an optical reader once in-person activities resume.
  • UNAM is installing turnstiles with biometric readers and metal detectors, and officials estimate a possible return to on‑site classes around November 18.
