UNAM Megasite Sees Strong Turnout as Weeklong Vaccination Drive Runs Through Nov. 14

The campaign supports Mexico’s winter immunization push to bolster protection before respiratory illnesses peak.

Overview

  • UNAM’s health directorate reported more than 5,000 attendees and about 15,000 doses applied on opening day, with long lines at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
  • The site at Parking Lot 3, Gate G, is open to the public Nov. 10–14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering vaccines against influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcal disease and measles.
  • Vaccination is free for anyone, with an ID or National Health Card recommended, and the vaccination card required for minors.
  • The multi-agency operation includes the federal and Mexico City health secretariats alongside IMSS, ISSSTE, Pemex and CENSIA, deploying more than 300 nurses with UNAM trainees assisting.
  • On-site preventive services include glucose and blood-pressure checks, and officials advise deferring shots for those with fever or active infection; the SRP vaccine is not given to pregnant women, infants under six months or people with severe immunosuppression.
