UNAM Halts Saturday Vaccinations at Olympic Stadium After Reported Assaults on Staff

DGAS will contact those who missed doses beginning Tuesday to receive vaccines in small groups.

Overview

  • UNAM canceled the November 15 vaccination session at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario after a group that arrived post-closing on Friday allegedly assaulted university health workers.
  • The incident occurred when late arrivals demanded to be vaccinated despite operations having ended for the day, according to DGAS director Gustavo Olaiz Fernández.
  • People who did not receive a dose on Friday will be reached by DGAS starting Tuesday, November 18, for scheduled appointments in reduced groups.
  • City and partner sites remain available for free vaccination, including a Zócalo center and IPN locations in Zacatenco (November 18–19) and Santo Tomás (November 20–21) from 12:00 to 17:00.
  • The campaign has so far served 30,862 people with 73,671 doses across influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcal and MMR vaccines, and UNAM publicly condemned the violence while thanking collaborating institutions and volunteers.
