- UN Secretary-General António Guterres told a high-level UN meeting on Tuesday that the two-State solution based on pre-1967 lines remains the only credible path to lasting peace and that time is running out.
- Guterres said Israeli settlement expansion, outposts, settler violence, demolitions, evictions and land seizures are 'systematically erasing' the conditions for a contiguous, viable Palestinian state and cited the E1 plan as especially damaging.
- Meeting hosts Canada, France, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom and speakers including Mark Carney, Antonio Costa, Emmanuel Macron and Andy Burnham called for words to be matched by concrete actions on the ground.
- Speakers pressed for specific measures to preserve Palestinian statehood: stop settlement growth, block annexation moves, deploy stabilization forces and police, fund Palestinian institutions and fully implement the October 2025 Gaza peace plan.
- The meeting built on last year’s New York Declaration and Security Council endorsements of a 2025 ceasefire and a US provisional deal that set up a Board of Peace, but participants warned that implementation has lagged and humanitarian needs in Gaza remain acute.
