Overview
- UNIFIL says an October geospatial survey confirmed a concrete T-wall southwest of Yaroun crossed the UN-demarcated Blue Line, with a November survey finding another section southeast of the town beyond it.
- The mission says the structure has blocked more than 4,000 square metres of Lebanese land from local access and has asked Israel to remove or relocate the walls.
- Israel denies any breach, describing the barrier as part of a defensive plan launched in 2022 and insisting it remains on its side of the line.
- UNIFIL reported Israeli troops fired heavy-machinegun rounds from a Merkava tank that landed about five metres from a patrol; the IDF said the shots were warning fire after misidentifying UN soldiers in poor weather.
- UN statements call Israeli construction and positions north of the line violations of Resolution 1701, and Beirut says the works also contravene terms of the 2024 ceasefire.
