UN Reports 103 Civilian Deaths Since Lebanon Ceasefire as Israeli Strikes Continue

The rights chief called for independent investigations to help secure a permanent end to hostilities.

Overview

  • An Israeli drone strike on a car in Kafra on Wednesday killed one person and wounded five, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
  • The UN human rights office says 103 civilians have been killed in Lebanon since the November truce, with more than 80,000 still displaced and no verified killings in Israel from projectiles fired out of Lebanon.
  • Volker Türk urged an independent probe into the Sept. 21 Bint Jbeil strike that killed five people, including three children.
  • The IDF said on Sunday it hit Hezbollah weapons depots and other targets in southern Lebanon, describing the campaign as necessary to prevent the group from rebuilding.
  • Hezbollah leaders insist the group will not disarm, while reports say Israeli forces remain at least five positions inside Lebanon despite ceasefire terms.
