UN Labels Middle East Crisis an 'Unrelenting Tragedy'

One year after attacks on Israel, UN criticizes both Hamas and Israel for extensive human rights violations.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) condemned the 2023 terrorist attacks by Hamas and other groups on Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and 5,500 injuries.
OCHA reported that more than 200 hostages were taken to Gaza, where they faced severe abuses, including sexual violence.
Israeli military actions in Gaza have reportedly caused over 41,000 deaths and left nearly 100,000 injured, according to Hamas authorities.
The World Health Organization estimates an additional 10,000 individuals remain buried under debris in Gaza.
OCHA accused Israel of systematically targeting medical facilities and obstructing humanitarian aid, while Israel claims Hamas uses civilian infrastructure for military purposes.
