UN General Assembly Endorses New York Declaration on Two-State Roadmap as US and Israel Oppose

  • The General Assembly approved the nonbinding endorsement by a vote of 142–10 with 12 abstentions.
  • India voted in favour, while the United States and Israel were among the 10 countries opposing the resolution.
  • The declaration calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, the disarmament and exclusion of Hamas, and Palestinian Authority-led governance unifying Gaza and the West Bank.
  • It urges Israel to halt settlement expansion, land seizures and annexation plans, affirms Gaza as part of a future Palestinian state, and rejects occupation, siege and forced displacement.
