UN Adds 68 Companies to West Bank Settlements List, Bringing Total to 158

The list is a transparency tool that urges corporate human-rights due diligence.

Overview

  • OHCHR’s update names 158 firms after assessing 215 submissions, adding 68 and removing seven, with hundreds of companies still under review.
  • The database targets involvement in 10 settlement-related activities, prioritizing construction, real estate, mining and quarrying in this round.
  • Newly listed firms include Heidelberg Materials, Steconfer and Ineco, while Alstom, eDreams and Opodo were removed; Expedia, Booking and Airbnb remain.
  • Most companies are Israeli, with others registered in the United States, Canada, China, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom.
  • The UN stresses the list is non-judicial and calls on businesses to prevent and remediate rights harms, as Israel rejects the move and critics question the Council’s bias.
