Umran Malik Set for J&K Return at Buchi Babu After Hip and Hamstring Rehab

The speedster says a BCCI-guided recovery has refocused him on workload discipline with new variations.

Overview

  • He is slated to play for Jammu & Kashmir against Baroda in Chennai from August 22 after seven to eight months out.
  • He completed rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, reporting full recovery from hip and hamstring issues and thanking staff including VVS Laxman.
  • He has been developing three to four new variations while working with Abhishek Nayar, J&K bowling coach P Krishna Kumar, and head coach Ajay Sharma.
  • He missed the entire 2024–25 domestic season and IPL 2025, having been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 75 lakh but ruled out before the season began.
  • He plans to build back through Buchi Babu and then the Ranji Trophy, is avoiding social media distractions, and is targeting a return to the India team.
