Ukrainian Jewish Community Mourns Rabbi's Son Killed in Battle

Anton Samborskyi, son of Rabbi Moshe Azman, was laid to rest in Kyiv after dying on the front lines in Donbas.

Anton Samborskyi, the adopted son of Rabbi Moshe Azman, died fighting against Russia in the Donetsk region.
Samborskyi's funeral at Kyiv’s Brodsky Central Synagogue was attended by Jewish and non-Jewish Ukrainians, as well as Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine.
The Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine has assisted in the burial of 47 Jewish soldiers and estimates hundreds have been killed in the conflict.
Samborskyi was drafted in May and sent to the front after a brief training period; he went missing in July and his body was recently recovered.
The Jewish community in Ukraine continues to support soldiers and civilians, providing holiday meals and other aid to those on the front lines.
