Ukraine’s Umerov Reaches U.S. for Miami Talks With White House Envoy

Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s national security chief and lead negotiator, is in the United States for meetings with White House special envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami.
Presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn said Umerov has already briefed President Volodymyr Zelensky and that more details will follow.
Zelensky said the top task is a new stage of prisoner releases on the humanitarian track.
He said the mission also seeks to restart diplomacy toward a durable peace as U.S. contacts with Russia continue.
A White House official confirmed preparations for the meeting without sharing an agenda, and recent reporting says talks have slowed in part as Washington focused on its confrontation with Iran.
