Overview

  • On June 1, Ukraine’s SBU executed Operation Spiderweb with 117 drones against four airbases deep inside Russia, damaging or destroying at least 13 strategic bombers and striking 41 aircraft in total.
  • Synthetic aperture radar and high-resolution satellite images from Capella Space and Planet Labs independently confirmed wreckage and burn scars at the Belaya airbase in the Irkutsk region.
  • The SBU also detonated explosives beneath the Kerch Bridge, severely damaging its supporting pylons and briefly halting traffic on this key route to occupied Crimea.
  • Moscow has intensified perimeter patrols and vehicle inspections at occupied Crimea airfields even as Russian forces dropped nearly 200 guided bombs on the Sumy region over two weeks, killing at least four civilians.
  • The UK pledged 100,000 drones and expanded military aid to Ukraine as recent peace talks in Istanbul yielded no ceasefire agreement, prolonging the conflict.
