Overview
- President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Olha Reshetylova (Kobylynska) as military ombudsman on Oct. 16 by Decree No. 792/2025.
- Reshetylova said the law grants up to a year to launch the office but she hopes to announce the start by New Year.
- The office is not yet operational as it completes legal registration, special vetting, creation of forms and seals, IT system access, and securing premises.
- A single-entry complaints system is being built, appeals are being processed during the transition, and temporary slowdowns are possible without leaving cases unreviewed.
- The ombudsman outlined division of responsibilities with the Verkhovna Rada’s human rights commissioner, and reported coordination with law enforcement and the government, including meetings with the prosecutor general, the interior minister, and Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko.
