Overview

  • Ukrainian drones struck energy and defense-linked sites deep inside Russia, including the Ryazan and Novokuibyshevsk refineries, the Anna Nefteprodukt fuel depot, the Elektropribor plant and the Primorsko-Akhtarsk Shahed drone airfield.
  • The overnight raids caused massive fires and explosions, with footage showing a towering mushroom cloud over Novokuibyshevsk, and led to three confirmed civilian deaths and multiple injuries in western regions.
  • Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported shooting down 338 Ukrainian drones across eight regions and the Crimean Peninsula in the largest overnight interception to date.
  • Russia simultaneously launched 53 drones and decoys at Ukraine, of which Kyiv says its air defenses shot down or jammed 45, though a drone strike in Kharkiv wounded eleven civilians.
  • Kyiv’s General Staff and SBU framed the strikes as retaliation for recent Russian bombardment of Ukrainian cities and a strategic effort to undermine Moscow’s fuel supplies and defense production.
