Ukraine's drone warfare has created a deep trove of battlefield data that can be used to train artificial intelligence.

Overview

  • Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov described the wartime dataset as "priceless" and said demand is high while Ukraine decides how to share it.
  • Since 2022 Ukraine has compiled detailed battlefield logs and millions of hours of drone footage that can train military AI models.
  • Fedorov said drones now account for 80–90% of Ukrainian strikes, up from roughly 70–75% in 2024, with AI assisting piloting and rapid target detection.
  • A points-based marketplace that rewards confirmed kills with equipment has provided about 500,000 drones to units over the last year.
  • Ukraine is inviting weapons testing with nearly 1,000 applications and about 50 products inbound, is using Palantir’s AI tools, and is fielding thousands of UGVs for resupply.
